Description

TB-500 (Thymosin Beta-4)

TB-500, a synthetic counterpart of the naturally occurring Thymosin Beta-4 peptide found in both human and animal cells, belongs to a widespread family of 16 related molecules highly conserved in sequence and localization throughout the body’s tissues and circulating cells. This potent peptide not only binds to actin but also hinders actin polymerization, serving as the actin-sequestering molecule in eukaryotic cells.

Research revealed that TB-500 is up-regulated four-to-six times during early blood vessel formation, promoting the growth of new blood cells from existing vessels. Found in wound fluid, subcutaneous administration of TB-500 enhances wound healing, muscle development, and accelerates the recovery time of muscle fibers and cells.

Another essential aspect of TB-500 is its ability to encourage cell migration through a specific interaction with actin in the cell cytoskeleton. Studies demonstrate that a central small amino acid long-actin binding domain possesses blood cell reproduction and wound healing characteristics, leading to the accelerated migration of endothelial cells and keratinocytes. Furthermore, TB-500 increases the production of enzymes that degrade the extracellular matrix.

TB-500 stands out as a potent, naturally occurring wound repair factor with anti-inflammatory properties. Unlike other repair factors such as growth factors, TB-500 promotes endothelial and keratinocyte migration without binding to the extracellular matrix. Moreover, it boasts a low molecular weight, allowing it to travel relatively long distances through tissues. A key mechanism of TB-500 is its capacity to regulate the cell-building protein actin, a critical component of cell structure and movement. Among the numerous proteins present in cells, actin represents up to 10% of the total, making it a vital factor in the genetic composition of the cell.
